In response to COVID-19 Rise Together is partnering with Hoos First Look to provide first-generation, low-income students with weekly virtual mentorship, college readiness support, and college, scholarship and financial aid guidance.
Our goal is to ensure that every striving young adult has access to the guidance, resources, support, mentors and opportunities necessary to take charge of their education, career, life, and dreams.
Rise Together Nonprofit Programs
Rise Together
Rise Together is a nonprofit, outcome-driven team mentoring program that connects University of Virginia (UVA) students with first-generation and low-income K-12 youth in the Commonwealth. Rise Together mentoring teams provide weekly targeted academic support, social-emotional learning, workforce and college readiness, and service learning opportunities designed to lessen barriers to postsecondary attainment, support teachers, and build novel collaborative relationships between UVA and the community.
College Guidance
The Rise Together College Guidance Program is a two-pronged approach designed to guide 9-12th grade students from high school to college. The first component is an intensive individual college guidance program focusing on course selection, standardized test preparation, college search, and application support. The second component is engaging Rise Together Group Seminars and service learning projects, which allow students to work collaboratively to develop a growth mindset, personal determination, and academic/personal confidence.
Hoos Rise Together
Hoos Rise Together is a 12-week virtual mentoring initiative that provides first-generation low-income high school seniors around the country with virtual mentorship, college readiness support, and college, scholarship and financial aid guidance. The program is designed to provide UVA student mentors with weekly intensive trainings and professional development needed effectively guide students towards their postsecondary aspirations.
